Clinical records are stored securely and retained in accordance with BPS and HCPC guidelines. Adult records are retained for a minimum of 7 years following the last contact. Records for children and young people are retained until the individual reaches the age of 25, or for 7 years after the last contact — whichever is longer. Records are then securely destroyed.
